Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema confirmed that the buses will operate across 10 newly designated routes, covering a total of 86 kilometers. The new service will be connected with Islamabad’s transport network, ensuring smoother intercity travel.

A dedicated bus depot is also under construction on 28 kanals of land along Peshawar Road, with a capacity to accommodate up to 100 buses. Officials said this project is part of Punjab’s Annual Development Programme 2025–26, which includes the development of modern urban bus depots and allied infrastructure.

Authorities explained that these routes have been designed to serve areas not currently covered by the Metro Bus system, ensuring greater accessibility for underserved neighborhoods.
