Web Desk: Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has proposed that the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) should be transformed into the Benazir Employment Scheme to make it more impactful.
Rana Sanaullah said that consultations could be held with senior leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), as the BISP is a federal-level initiative and requires provincial approval for any major changes.
He acknowledged that the BISP is a successful and ongoing program, but stressed that the government wants to further improve its effectiveness. “Our goal is to ensure that this program not only provides financial assistance but also creates employment opportunities for people,” he stated. He added that discussions are already underway regarding such a transformation.
Positive Political Dialogue
Sanaullah emphasized that if the PPP has suggestions, they should share them openly. He said that political parties should take each other’s statements positively, as a special committee already exists in Punjab to address inter-party issues through dialogue.
On Flood Relief
Speaking about the recent floods and their destruction, the adviser said that independent surveys have been conducted in the affected areas. Based on verified data, relief and assistance will be provided to victims at the provincial level.
