Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially inaugurated Phase II of the Lahore Electric Bus Project, introducing 40 new electric buses to the city’s public transport system. The inauguration ceremony took place at the Expo Centre Lahore, attended by government officials, transport authorities, and citizens.
⚡ More Buses Coming by December
Speaking at the ceremony, CM Maryam Nawaz announced that 70 additional electric buses will be added to Lahore’s fleet by December 2025, as part of the government’s commitment to expanding sustainable transport solutions.
A short documentary was presented during the event, showcasing the environmental benefits and cost-efficiency of the electric bus system. Officials from the Transport Department also briefed attendees on operational details and future routes.
🚌 Two New Routes Announced
Under Phase II, two new electric bus routes have been launched to improve connectivity across key urban areas:

Route 1: Raiwind → Jinnah Terminal (via Thokar Niaz Baig)

Route 2: Jinnah Terminal / Thokar Niaz Baig → Harbanspura
These routes are expected to significantly ease daily commuting and reduce traffic congestion along major city corridors.
🌍 Green and Smart Transport for Lahore
The Electric Bus Project is part of Punjab’s broader Clean and Green Initiative, aiming to cut air pollution and modernize the city’s transport infrastructure.
Officials emphasized that the new buses are zero-emission, fully air-conditioned, and wheelchair-accessible, ensuring comfort and inclusivity for all passengers.
