Milk Price in Karachi to Reach Rs. 300 Per Liter From October 11

🥛 Talks End Without Agreement

According to DCFA President Shakir Umer Gujjar, a crucial meeting held on October 2 at the Commissioner Karachi’s office ended without a settlement. Despite hours of discussion, no notification was issued, and the session was abruptly adjourned for unspecified reasons.

Farmers claim that the production cost of milk has now reached Rs. 271 per liter, and after factoring in transportation and retail margins, the final consumer price stands at Rs. 300 per liter.

⚠️ Farmers Threaten Independent Price Enforcement

In protest, representatives of the Dairy Farmers Association, Retailers Association, and Wholesalers Association staged a sit-in inside the Commissioner’s office.
They demanded the immediate issuance of an official price notification reflecting the new rates.

The associations have warned that if the Sindh government fails to formalize the decision by October 11, they will enforce the new price independently across Karachi, with full backing from all key stakeholders in the dairy supply chain.

💬 Background: Soaring Costs and Inflation

Dairy farmers argue that persistent inflation, expensive feed, and transportation costs have pushed the sector to the brink.
Many have reported severe losses due to floods and rising input prices — forcing a revision of rates to keep operations sustainable.

Currently, milk retails for Rs. 220–250 per liter in various parts of Karachi, but the upcoming increase could push prices to a record high.
